How relevant is electric?

One of our clients asked Mills Advertising to evaluate the rightness of concentrating solely on their EV product line and stop communicating on their diesel and combustion engine related products.
Our simple question to them was: are we talking about OE or aftermarket?

The fact that car manufacturers are aiming to stop producing vehicles with combustion / diesel engine technology in the coming decade, doesn’t mean that the aftermarket will be or can stop supplying the car industry with combustion technology for quite a while yet.

So even if it’s true and there won’t be any combustion new car sales by 2035, there will be tremendous work for the aftermarket spare parts manufacturers and garages to keep the existing diesel and combustion fleets running for at least 10 more years after that.

Another important point is that the recently sold electric vehicles will be under factory warranty for 2-7 years. This means there will be no major electric business for the independent aftermarket in the immediate future, but steady work on the old, polluting but still running combustion and diesel vehicles for another 15-20 years. #automotive #electriccars #aftermarketautomotive
